Reposting Some Deleted QPR Report Blog Posts

-
Editor's note: The following were previously posted on the QPR Report Blog on WATRB. Those posts/The QPR Report Blog was unfortunately summarily deleted today (Guy Fawkes Day!). So just for the record: This is a repost of those blog posts from the first half of 2009!

QPR Report Wins The Bet!
Posted 10-05-2009

Pete would have to check the exact "terms", but there was a pre-season (Sportsman's bet) between myself and Pete: re Earnshaw vs Blackstock. Who would score more? Earnsahw for Nott F or Blackstock for Queens Park Rangers

I bet that Earnshaw would score more. Pete bet that Blackstock would.

Now assuming I got these stats right:...

Earnshaw's Nottingham Forest Goals
League: 26 +6 - 12 goals
FA Cup 2 2 goals
League Cup 2 3 goals

Blackstock QPR Goals
League 26+9 11 goals
FA Cup 1 0
League Cup 2 1

So Is Pete Making a Threat/Warning to QPR Report?
Posted 26-04-2009

So Pete makes a post on this board:

Is QPR Report..Ronnie Biggs??
Will we hear less of him in a few weeks time?

http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10697I'll be honest: I don't actually understand what Pete means - But maybe something got lost from the Italian translation

Or maybe it's some kind implied threat or warning. Now that would be interesting: From the man who who rushed to the board spouting about Paladini's file on me. Have to wonder.

I guess we have to stay tuned. But for the man who serves at the voicepiece of Paladini, one has to wonder.

Leaking Confidential Information - One Yardstick for All
Posted 23-04-2009

A very simple proposal: If any official is to be axed for leaking confidential information; then every official should be axed for leaking confidential information.

Unless there are some clear guidelines about what confidential information can be leaked. And what can't.

Who should set these guidelines: Should the be a club official who determines what confidential information is to be leaked and what is not.

When Messageboard Posts Get Deleted
Posted 23-04-2009

As a neophyte Messageboard administrator, watching how other messageboards handle posts they don't like may prove instructive.

After seeing at least a couple of message threads deleted (presumably because of their content) on this site in the past 24 hours (and who knows if there have been others which I didn't See) and considering how I would handle it:

Speaking for myself and how I think I will at least do on my board, I concluded I think best (and I told my fellow moderators) that if a thread is deleted - at least the fact that a thread has been deleted should be noted - and depending on the circumstances, some sort of explanation provided.

As for the substance of those deleted threads: That's for others or for another time

To Believe Pete...Or to Believe Sousa?
Posted 21-04-2009

First a poster comes along and posts on WATRB's site about purported comments from Sousa: I thought I read that Sousa denied this meeting. But whatever.

Let's just assume there really was this conversation. So Sousa went to the bother of having this conversation. Sousa's comments were full of inaccuracies (which Pete is able to "clarify" . And Sousa gets fired. People think because of things he said.

"[Sousa] went on to tell me that the day he became manager the board signed Helguson EVEN THOUGH he failed a medical!"

Pete clarifies: "Just for the record Helgusson never failed a medical, played and scored for Iceland 3 days before signing for QPR, nice piece on the official web-site, the day he signed."

Just as earlier: The poster reported Sousa said: "He wanted to bring in a left back from portugal who he said was exactaly what we needed, baring in mind this player was a FREE TRANSFER the board wouldnt back him."

Pete's response
"By the way the Portugal defender was wanted for £300,000 for which Sousa would have got a cut n the deal."

It's just so hard to know what to believe. Except we know that Sousa's no longer here, for the stated reasons we've heard.

What WAS the "Highly Confidential and Sensitive Information" Divulged by Sousa?
Posted 20-04-2009

Echoing the original club statement, Briatore "said" Sousa "was terminated, after he - without authority - divulged highly confidential and sensitive information. The Club, with legal advice, responded in this way to protect its position."

But what was that information:

- Surely it couldn't be that Blackstock went without his knowledge (since the club says not the case)

- Not Helguson failed a medical (since Pete says "...Just for the record Helgusson never failed a medical...")

- Not that the club failed to sign a Portugese Defender on a free (since Pete said "the Portugal defender was wanted for £300,000 for which Sousa would have got a cut n the deal."

So what: Lopez Future? The fact we didn't sign a forward wanted by Sousa?

Mike Keen RIP - Another of the 1967 Team Gone
Posted 13-04-2009

The very sad news about QPR's former captain, Mike Keen makes him the third of the 1967 team to pass on - all in recent years: Joining Peter Springett and Jim Langley. (And other QPR players from that era who have also died: Bobby Keetch, Mick Leach and Dave Clement)

Another reminder that we should be treasuring former QPR players and bringing them more into the club - and NOT Just the big names or Marsh and Francis and Bowles (if he's not persona non grata) But all these heroes - including of course, Frank Sibley, who has Parkinsons. And not just the 1967 players. There are many players who devoted a lot of their career to QPR who are basically on the ashheap of QPR history.

Of course nostalgia makes the past somewhat golden: Mike Keen himself was not treated too well by QPR: A decade at QPR, and then in the middle of our First Division relegation season, sold off to Alec Stock (another person not treated too well) at Luton.

Keen got the last laugh: Winning promotion with Luton. Getting the only goal in a 1-0 win at Loftus Road a couple of seasons later.

RIP, Mike Keen

Did Pete or Someone From WATRB Contact the Club and Tell Them About THE Post?
Posted 12-04-2009

Besides WHERE Pete Got the Information From, Also WHY did Pete Respond re Sousa?

When THE post was made re Sousa's desire for a Portugese defender, WHY did Pete response (with that internal information - "[T]he Portugal defender was wanted for £300,000 for which Sousa would have got a cut"

So how suddenly did Pete come into this information?
What was the process: Did Pete contact the club and tell them about that there was this poster saying what SOusa ostensibly said: And he needed some facts to refute the claims? Or to put Sousa in a bad light?

WHat exactly was this process?

And when is Pete going to respond to the real issues instead of creating straw arguments to respond to?

The Simple Questions That Pete Refuses to Answer
Posted 12-04-2009

Much prevarication and attempts to distort the issue. No one is suggesting "This Site" got Sousa fired. People have suggested that Pete promoted an Axe-Sousa agenda with a slew of posts over the past month. And the question of whether Pete was acting as a "Stalking Horse" for anyone with the club remains unanswered.

More pertinantly: On that thread from that poster - which Pete protested on other sites that he really wasn't aware of until late in the day: Pete posted this statement "[T]he Portugal defender was wanted for £300,000 for which Sousa would have got a cut"

Again: Sure sounds like Pete was citing confidential inside information to me.

I've posed this question repeatedly. Pete has repeatedly refused to respond to my query and this same query posed by others.

As for the rest: The fact that the post remained for so long. The thread was then locked with the caption "Due to legal implications this thread is now locked awaiting legal advice." and later removed with the post from Myu: "On advice we have deleted the thread. WATRBs cannot comment further at the time."

So it also makes wonder who was giving that legal advice; and why that post was subsequently put back up on WATRB - The Day that Sousa was axed.

It also poses the question about what contacts any club official or representative had with WATRB Moderators regarding that post, between the time the post first went up and the time that Sousa was axed.

WAITING FOR PETE'S BANNING EXPLANATION
Meanwhile still waiting for either an apology or an explanation for why Pete imposed a WATRB ban on me. The other WATRB moderators very kindly posted

QPReport WATRB ban lifted
"On behalf of the WATRB team of administrators and moderators I would like to apologise for this ban that is now lifted. From what I have learned, it was caused by a misunderstanding and the decision was, unfortunately, rushed due to the posting frenzy we were having to deal with. We have a due process for banning and it was ignored. I and other hard-working members of the team will do our best to ensure this does not happen again."

But not a word from Pete why it happened.

WATRB Ban on QPR Report Now Lifted With Apology
Posted 11-04-2009

Just for the record:. The third WATRB ban on QPR Report for making comments on other sites (not WATRB) which Pete objected to, has now been rescinded. (I appreciate the apology. I regret that the apology did not come for Pete)

QPR Report is Now Apparently Banned From Posting

That Other Shoe is Falling: Best of Luck to Sousa
Posted 09-04-2009

Another sad day in QPR History. And not a time to be proud of how the club acts.

Albert Einstein's definition of insanity:
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

QPR having had six managers (permanent and acting) in the past 18+ months. Eight in the past three years+.

Undoubtedly a few are happy with a Sousa departure. Far more - based on the Polls on the various sites suggest otherwise.

And the continuous campaign against him in the last month, by one specific individual was beyond the pale - and raises the suspicion (denied, but persisting) about the role of our Sporting Director. Certainly specific information release (if accurate) and now deleted, suggested that "someone" inside the organization was releasing information they had absolutely no business doing. A highly unprofessional, but not especially surprising act.

It will be interesting in years to come to follow Sousa's career and to wonder if like Fulham and Bobby Robson, people will be amazed at what QPR did. QPR took a gamble in the Sousa appointment. It seems bewildering that after taking that step, they're not prepared to stick till at least the first months of next season. The players have spoken very highly of him. All the arguments for keeping him are well known. And shared by most posters

As for the future: To be pragmatic. One may think how this club has its managerial system is crazy. But if the Chairman insists on operating things a certain way, and refuses to change this, then he should certainly appoint a COMPETENT coach - not just a yes man - who can comfortably operate within this system.

There's absolutely no point hiring someone, who say is the typical English manager type who insists on buying and selling the players; and then is unhappy when this is not allowed. Or when the Chairman gets more involved vis-a-vis the team than most chairman.

Those who want the big names - who don't know the championship, when they derided Sousa for this very same "flaw" seems illogical.
And those who want a De Canio return. All one knows is that very very rarely does a manager do as well on their second stint at a club as they initially did. (Examples of success welcome)

That the club seems determined to waste money on hiring and axing coaches rather than buying players. That the club doesn't seem to mind having not done well in the transfer market. So be it.

Presumably we all want the same thing. One would hope that the Chairman would have learned from experience. He doesn't have to acknowledge any errors he may have made. But to have internalized and learned from them.
We'll see.

Another QPR Coach Departs...Waiting For the Other Shoe to Drop Posted 06-04-2009

After all the talk of Sousa's departure, the axing of his assistant Bruno Oliveira - and the manner of doing so - makes it appear that the club are either on the point of axing Sousa - or, their presumed preferred option: Hoping Sousa will resign - Saving them money.

Given that Sousa hired Oliveira, don't see how he could accept the dismissal of his assistant (short of some terrible act committed by Oliveira)

This of course is the club that put Holloway, Penrice and Breaker on "Gardening Leave" for a year.

Seems more disgusting behavior from this club.

Another Day...Another Day of Pete's Sousa Bashing
Posted 05-04-2009

One can't help having the strong feeling that certain elements within the club will be well pleased.

This goes far, far beyond a fair expression of views. This is an ongoing campaign of post after post after post after post.

And given the relationship previously evinced between Pete and Paladini, I - and I imagine quite a few others, find it extremely hard to believe that if this was not in furtherance of the agenda of others, then there would be a phone call made to Pete, to tamper this down.

And everyone who's read Pete's posts over the past 18 months on WATRB and his posts before that on the other sites, is very well aware of how careful Pete to not have publicly criticized the club. Or the manager. And has come out strongly against those who have done.

If the club wants to axe Sousa. Go ahead. But shame on them. If Paladini is so desperate to preserve his own job. So be it. But for an ostensible QPR fan to be doing this. Disgusting. Just disgusting. And long after the Sousa managership comes to an end, the stench and the shame will linger on.

#1 in The The Hall of Shame
Posted 05-04-2009

First place in The Hall of Shame goes to QblockPete:

For an incessant campaign against Sousa; for his seeming willingness to promote the views and agenda of individuals within the club; and for his unyielding and unthinking defense of Paladini; and for his character assassinations of those who hold different views.

Pete's "De Canio is prepared to come back" post was revealing.

And Pete's attack on Sousa for lying by citing what Blackstock's agent said. When in fact what the very quote from the agent cited by Pete, in no way proved that Sousa was lying.
http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5524

A man who talks about people disagreeing with him having agendas continues to appear to be serving as a "Stalking Horse" for others.

Sooner or later, the "chickens will come home to roost."

Another Sousa Being Replaced Story
Posted 04-04-2009

Way to go QPR. Way to go. Drip...Drip...Drip...Drip...

But the dam has now been broken. Never again will Pete be able to lambast a poster for criticizing the manager; for wondering whether he should continue. Or for anything else for that matter.

Being A Paladini Acolyte
Posted 03-04-2009

Some messageboard posters - in fact many messageboard posters - are wondering whether Paladini is in anyway the source for this series of Sousa-in-danger/Sousa-on-the-brink articles.
(Pete categorically nothing from him to newspaers and I take him at his word.)

Overall must be tough being a Paladini acolyte:

It must be tough. Never being able to criticize him.

Contorting oneself to fit one's position so it's in accordance with what's best for Paladini.

And the consistent resort to the mantra "He Saved the Club"

And seeming forgetting that the logical ultimate objective is to support QPR. Not to support one man - who five years ago was just entering the world of QPR.

And unlike the rest of us, is not involved with QPR just for the love of it. He's getting (reportedly well) paid for his QPR time.

Frustrations of a Board Poster
Posted 02-04-2009

Does it sometimes get a little frustrating to see a "news" post on a messageboard hours, even days after it was already posted on one's own messageboard or blog?

Yes, I'd say it it. But ultimately if board readers don't mind being a few hours - or days behind the news, so be it.

Ditto: When one's post on another site is taken and just copied and pasted/without the attribution - "As noted by" - forget the link!

And then the rules of posting seem a little erratic. One person just posts a link with the opening sentence (The WATRB approved method); another posts the entire article.

Ahh TEEETHING

The Sousa Saga Continues
Posted 02-04-2009

Despicable leaking from one wonders who (whom?) Certainly if Briatore wanted these direct or indirect leaks to stop, they'd stop.

The major protganoists for "Sousa Out" are Dexter for England, Pete and, seemingly Briatore!

Certainly the next time we have a manager doing well, those "questioning" Sousa, will have no case to make in seeking to quiet those questions.

Another Shoe Falls
Posted 01-04-2009

And another story...A source...|

Wonder who this source is!

There was an insinuation on this site a couple of weeks ago that it was Mr. Pete himself. Surely not.

And if it's from the club itself: ****my. ****my

Waiting for the Other Shoe to Fall
Posted 01-04-2009
So many stories re Sousa...So we wait for the other shoe to fall. Will there be a story in another tabloid? Will one of the local newspapers provide additional details re Sousa's future....

If accurate, QPR would be gong for their ninth manager (Permanent or Acting) in just over 36 months. And then the tenth manager probably wouldn't be far behind.

To me, if Sousa going/demoted is true, this is far. far more significant in its implications, than how one feels about how Paladini may be performing as Sporting Director (about which there can be - and obviously are - legitimate differences of view.)

Elsewhere: As I noted on my blog and messageboard: Found an interesting quote from a year by Amit Bhatia about their plans. Probably misquoted; or plans change; or meant somewhere else

Sousa?
Posted 31-03-2009

Imagine you're Sousa. And you read yet another story in the press about his future at the club.

So you're Sousa: Do you believe the story? Does it sound plausible? Do you feel that prominent people at the club are trying to send you a message? Do you feel that the club are not really supporting you.

What do you think? What do you do?

The Ethics of Leaking

Posted 31-03-2009

It's an interesting issue:

- Is it right that a certain club official or officials leak information to certain selected posters?

(Which is a very different issue of whether the information is interesting)

- Why does the official or officials do it? What do these officials get back in return? Is there an explicit of implied quid pro quo?

- Is it right that (true or untrue) stories should be leaked to the press?

Interesting subjects for debate

Sousa Out?
Posted 31-03-2009

As noted on the dot.org, tabloid report that QPR looking to hire manager above Sousa - or Director of Football. Surely not a Director of Football given that we have Sporting Director...Unless....! Couldn't see Sousa staying if demoted.

To state obvious: Just because it's the tabloid doesn't at all mean it's incorrect.

If true, Pete's "Just reflecting my own views" makes more sense now.

Observations re WATRB
Posted 29-03-2009

OK it's had a couple of down times, but that's just teething.

Very comprehensive (although many of the parts are not of relevance/interest to me from what I want from a football board. But obviously others do. So live and let live!

WATRB, with its "high-tech" web design, etc, is the opposite extreme of my humble messageboard which is off the rack technology (proboard) and focused solely on QPR and some football in general.

And STILL waiting for Pete to post on my board - Given that he's posted on dot.org & LFW and Fans...But I'm sure that day will come!

With regard to whether there's been a change in tone in postings and with the addition of various moderators: A little early to tell. Continue to be some snide comments. And strawmen arguments made which seem to be in not in keeping with the spirit if not the rules of posting. Given that some of the most egregious comments on the old WATRB came from you know who, time will tell.

Links to Other QPR SITE: As far as I can see: It's almost impossible to find the links to other QPR sites via the Forum/Messageboard -which is the part of the WATRB that probably 99% of posters use. Yes I know they're there. But almost impossible for the casual user to find. (Maybe I'm missing it)

On a minor point: Given that Scott was comparing visitors to the various sites: WATRB lists current users but I don't see that it lists total users during the past 24 hours. (Maybe I'm missing it)

re Prohibitions on Copy/Pasting. I understand the copyright rationale given. But the consequence as I understand it is that I am prohibited to post on the WATRB with a link to my site where there are the posts re the old videos I found/posted yesterday.
And after the deep, deep research I did to find these videos - never previously seen on the web, and thus I think a true find - I don't think it's much to ask people to visit my site to get the links to view the videos. Certainly that's what I did on the dot.org and LFW and no complained re that.

As for the WATRB blogs: on the WATRB are an interesting concept. See how those go. Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see how one is able to edit a blog post after it's been posted.

Anyway that's the view so far. While others from WATRB may ignore this site. Not QPR Report! Thanks
