THE SEASON QPR DID THE DOUBLE
OVER NEWCASTLE: 1973-74
OVER NEWCASTLE: 1973-74
1973-74 was QPR's first season back, having won promotion under Gordon Jago and Bobby Campbell.
The earlier 3-2 win at Newcastle was QPR's First-ever away win (outside London) in the Old First Division (Thomas, Francis and Leach scoring for QPR - building up a 3-0 lead...Then 3-1...Then 3-2 and hanging on! The same QPR team as the December victory, with the exception of Hazell playing at #3 instead of Gillard in the September win)
Scorers in the home win: Clement, Givens, Bowles
15,000 (out of possible 33,000!) were there at Loftus Road to see...QPR end a run of five games without a win - with Gillard making only his second appearance of the season. (And going on from there to win U-21 and then England Caps)
